Injectables are available to clients 21 years of age and older.

Botulinum toxin, commonly referred to by the trade name "Botox" is a neurotoxic protein that prevents muscle contraction. Injected in small amounts to the upper face by a licensed medical professional, botox prevents the muscle contractions (such as raising the forehead or furrowing the brow) that cause wrinkles. While most of us call these neurotoxins "botox", much like we call all tissue "kleenex", botox is simply a brand name. At Allyn Aesthetics we use a brand called Xeomin, also known as "smart tox", because it is a cleaner, purer product.

Although every body metabolizes the product differently, most clients find that the effect of their injections lasts between 8 and 12 weeks. Some clients need more frequent injections and others may go 6 months before needing more. It is best to return as soon as you start to see movement returning rather than waiting for it all to wear off. If paying per area*, free "dose adjustments" are provided if, at the 14 day mark, you still have undersired movement in the targeted muscles. Those that do not follow up at 14 days forfeit this benefit. *Those paying by unit will be charge for any additional doseage required.

It is important to understand, however, that there are two types of wrinkles/lines in the skin: dynamic (active) and static (present at rest). Dynamic wrinkles are those that are caused when facial muscles are contracted, or moving. These movements are decreased with botox, preventing the lines from becoming deeper. Static lines are those that are etched in the face over time and cannot be eliminated with botox use alone.

While static wrinkles cannot be erased by botox there are a number of other cosmetic procedures that can signiifcantly minimalize or even eliminate these wrinkles. Skin peels, microneedling, and microdermabrasion (used alone or in combination) are treatment options that have been proven to provide excellent results, especially when coupled with a medical grade skin care regimen. Talk to your aesthetic practitioner about which treatment is best for your needs.

Dermal filler:

Hyaluronic acid is injected under the layers of the skin to creat a fuller, smoother effect. Dermal fillers can be used in such areas as under the eyes (tear troughs), to the temples, cheek hollows, cheekbones, around the mouth (perioral, or smokers' lines), facial "parentheses" (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, chin, and jaw. Filler can also be used to fill lines in the chest and hands to give a more youthful appearance.

*Prices quoted are per 1ml syringe. Please note that it may require multiple syringes to achieve your aesthetic goals. Consultation is recommended.

This visit will take approximately 30 minutes and will include review of past medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, and risks/contraindications for laser treatment. Following your screening the provider will determine which (if any) laser services are appropriate and will write treatment orders for laser technicians to follow. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are both components of your blood that can be used to heal and repair skin imperfections and improve tissue volume. PRF is thought of by many as the "next generation of PRP" because it's effects have shown to be far superior to those of PRP. Fibrin, one of the body's many clotting factors, creates a spongy matrix, much like scaffolding, upon which new and healthy tissue can grow. Chock full of growth factors (stem cells) and inflammatory mediators that stimulate healing and growth, PRF has been likened to the fountain of youth for its anti-aging effects.

Many people opt for PRF facial volumization because effects are achieved with a natural product derived from one's own blood rather than injecting a foreign substance as is found in many commercial fillers. However, it is important to understand that the effects of PRF volumization are more subtle than those achieved with filler use. Usinf PRF is a great way to get a feel for what filler can do for your problem areas without committing to the longer-term effects of most other fillers. It is also a great way to give your entire face a youthful refresh!

The procedure begins with taking a blood sample (typically 2-4 vials depending on the intended use), and spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate the different components. The PRF will then be drawn up into a syringe for use during your treatment. If spot-treating skin imperfections the PRF will be injected into those sites using a small needle. Similar injections will be made for volumization or filling of tear troughs, cheeks, and lips, although a larger volume of PRF will be injected into those areas. If using with microneedling, the PRF will be used much like a serum, applied topically to the skin and "needled" in using the handheld microneedling device.

Because your safety is our first priority, at ALLYN aesthetics & wellness we only use SkinPen by Bellus Medical, the first and only FDA-cleared microneedling device.

Microneedling causes tiny ("micro") injuries to both the surface and deeper layers of the skin, stimulating your body’s natural wound healing processes, while minimizing cellular damage. This process of injuring and then repairing the skin results in restructuring and remodeling of irregularities in the skin such as scar tissue. And, while microneedling was originally used for scar reduction, it can also greatly minimize fine lines, large pores, and discoloration.

There are three phases of this process:

1. Inflammation is triggered by repeatedly puncturing the skin causes small injuries sends the body's immune system into action. Chemical mediators are sent to the site of injury to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.

2. Proliferation is when injured tissue is then rebuilt by granulation cells (part of the extracellular matrix) and angiogenesis (development of new blood vessels) occurs. These additional vessels allow for increased blood flow and oxygenation to the healing tissue.

3. Remodeling occurs when the injured tissue is replaced by new, healthy skin and blood vessels. What then emerges is smoother, healthier, and more radiant tissue.

While some immediate improvement is seen with smooth threads, they also produce gradual changes over time, as the threads stimulate your own collagen production and provide a framework upon which that collagen will continue to build. Twist threads add subtle volume and definition to areas such as lip borders. Your provider will determine the appropriate number and combination of threads necessary to achieve your desired results. Bruising, swelling, and some mild to moderate soreness is common after the procedure. Please allow for at least 4 weeks prior to any big event. Threads dissolve in approximately 6 months but many clients experience results lasting 12-24 months.

Pure Plasma is a state-of-the-art aesthetic treatment that provides highly effective, minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation. It works to reduce wrinkles, tighten sagging skin, and improve skin texture and tone.

The platform uses ionized gas to form plasma, and a thermal effect that is applied directly to the skin’s surface. The plasma energy does not destroy tissues and is not chromophore-dependent so it is safe for all skin types.

Plasma energy bypasses the epidermis, seeking water molecules in the dermis, causing a thermal reaction that tightens the skin, reduces wrinkles, and improves skin texture and tone while also stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Jennifer Allyn Freeland, founder and CEO, is a dual board certified nurse practitioner with just under 20 years’ experience in the medical field. She grew up in Santa Barbara, California, the oldest of three in a predominantly medical family. As an undergraduate, Jen attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Language and Literature. Despite a winding path to get there, Jen always knew she would follow in her parents’ medical footsteps; in 2004 she realized her dream and became a nurse. Jen then spent the next seven years working in critical care, ending her bedside nursing career in the surgical intensive care and trauma unit at the University of California San Diego Medical Center, earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing Education along the way.

Jen moved to Nashville in 2011 to begin the Emergency Nurse Practitioner program at Vanderbilt University. She completed her post-master’s training in 2013 and is board certified in both acute care and family practice with specialization in Emergency Medicine. In 2016, Jen received her doctorate degree in nursing from Vanderbilt, where she is now a proud member of the school of nursing faculty.

Jen has been an emergency department nurse practitioner since 2013 and, while she admittedly thrives in a high-stress, adrenaline-rich environment, Jen has long been interested in skin care, non-surgical aesthetic enhancements, and promoting health and wellness. As aesthetic medicine is an ever-evolving field, Jen feels that education should be a lifelong pursuit in order to stay most up to date on current ideas and techniques. She is certified in neuromodulator and dermal filler injection, medical grade skin care and resurfacing techniques, laser therapy, use of platelet rich plasma and fibrin (PRP/PRF) for aesthetics, sclerotherapy, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, sexual dysfunction, anti-aging therapies, and medical weight loss.

Jen loves practicing “happy medicine” and strives to use her training and expertise to bring a healthy balance of wellness and beauty to her beloved Mt. Juliet and middle Tennessee family, enhancing her clients’ outer glow, ultimately boosting overall well-being and self confidence. Jen believes in conservative approaches to non-surgical cosmetic enhancements, helping her clients to become the best version of themselves rather than looking like the next over-enhanced celebrity icon.

Jen and her husband Dave, a Gallatin native and CVICU nurse and educator, live in Hermitage with their sweet dog, Sadie, and six cats: Dylan, Cash, Bocephus, Brooks, Jennings, and McGraw. Jen and Dave love to travel and try to get away at least once a month to some of their favorite “local” spots such as Chattanooga, Asheville, and the North Georgia mountains in addition to flying “home” to California a few times a year. When they’re not working or traveling, Jen and Dave spend their time renovating their home, kayaking, golfing, camping, and discovering some of Music City’s great restaurants.
